Oct 2024 Update – Growing Success & New Investment Opportunities
October 31, 2024We’re pleased to bring you the latest updates from our farm this month:
🌞 Protecting Our Fruits: Innovative Measures in Action
Our farm employs state-of-the-art techniques to ensure our persimmons reach the highest quality standards. This season, we’ve been busy applying a Calcium Carbonate coating to the fruits, which acts as a natural sunscreen. This protective layer shields the delicate skin from intense sunlight, maintaining the fruit’s pristine appearance.
In addition to this, our protective netting offers an extra layer of security for the trees. Originally designed to safeguard the fruits from hailstorms, these nets also protect the persimmons from birds, insects, and excessive heat. The combined efforts of these measures ensure that our harvest thrives under optimal conditions.

✈️ HACCP Certification in Progress for 2025 Harvest
We are thrilled to announce that we’re implementing HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) for our upcoming air freight shipments to Europe. This rigorous food safety system addresses all potential hazards, from production to final distribution, ensuring our persimmons meet the highest safety and quality standards for European markets.
🇧🇷 Expanding to Brazil: Insights from São Paulo
Building on last month’s news, here’s a deeper dive into our plans for Brazil:
- Quality Differentiation: Brazilian markets sell Spanish persimmons labeled as CAT1, which aligns with what we consider CAT2. This opens opportunities for us to sell higher-quality fruits under premium branding, offering “Spanish-style persimmons grown in Paraguay.”
- Pricing and Packing: By adopting similar packaging styles to Spanish exports, such as compact cartons with protective film, we aim to command competitive prices. A 3.5 kg box priced at 40-50 Rs ($6.71-$8.38) could penetrate the market effectively.
- CAT2 and CAT3 Success: There’s high demand for all qualities of persimmons in Brazil, from premium to mid-tier and lower grades. Our ability to tailor packaging and shipment styles will be pivotal in maximizing our returns in this vibrant market.
We’re working closely with CEAGESP contacts, including Mr. Fernando Corraladas, to finalize logistics and marketing for this exciting venture.
