Sep 2023 Farm Update – Continual Improvement
September 13, 2023Feb 2024 Update – New Farm Tour Video & Invite
February 24, 2024January 2024 Farm Tour
From January 27, 2024, to January 30, 2024, we're organizing an immersive tour of our persimmon farm. This is a unique opportunity to witness firsthand our state-of-the-art farm and connect with the experienced farm management team.
To ensure the best possible experience for all participants, we're limiting the tour to a small, select group.
Now, let's dive into the latest farm improvement updates:
1. Fertilizer Spreader "Inroda IAC 7500"
In response to recent heavy rains that posed challenges to our fertilization process, we have acquired the "Inroda IAC 7500" Fertilizer Spreader. This remarkable equipment allows us to distribute solid fertilizers with precision during periods of excessive rainfall, avoiding the introduction of excess moisture to our trees through the irrigation system, which usually brings all plants their required fertilizer.
The best part? It can be operated with mechanized precision using our tractors, significantly reducing both time and labor costs compared to the manual process. With a generous capacity of 7.5 metric tons, this spreader allows us to target fertilizer application precisely to the tree lines, ensuring optimal nourishment for our persimmon trees.
2. Two New Tractors: "John Deere 6403"
Our commitment to providing the best tools for our dedicated team has led us to acquire two "John Deere 6403" tractors. The decision was prompted by a temporary service interruption of one of our Massey Ferguson tractors in October. With 109 horsepower each (vs. 95hp for the Massey Ferguson), these new tractors not only ensure that planned tasks are executed on schedule but also enhance our ability to manage pests, control weeds, and apply fertilizers efficiently. This upgrade equips us to handle all farm work with greater ease and efficiency while minimizing equipment wear.
3. Revolutionizing Our Warehouse and Cold Chain Management
One of the key lessons from our previous harvest season was the importance of maintaining the cold chain from harvest to container loading. To address this, in addition to improvements in the harvesting procedures themselves, we're embarking on a transformative journey within our warehouse. We are installing a cutting-edge temperature control system that will safeguard the quality of our persimmons throughout the entire process.
The harvested persimmon will enter directly the pre-cooled storage chambers (20Cº to 25Cº) and be packed at a temperature of 18Cº. Once the fruits are cleaned, calibrated, put on boxes, and palletized, they will be transported to a +10Cº chamber before final storage in 2 different chambers at +1Cº 24 hours before the loading in the container.
Furthermore, we are implementing a modern loading dock with a high-speed door to ensure swift, secure, and temperature-controlled container loading at +1Cº.
In addition to these major enhancements, we are making several other improvements across the farm, including upgrades to our electricity supply infrastructure, enhancements to drainage systems, and the exploration of an additional water source through electromagnetic studies. We believe that success is a journey, and every day we strive to visualize and analyze areas where we can improve.
We remain committed to keeping you informed about our continuous journey towards excellence. Your trust and support mean the world to us, and we look forward to sharing our successes with you.
